So Acting Principal Professor Garry Taylor exhorted the graduates of 2016 in his closing address on 24 June. You can see from the photo gallery that they didn't need any encouragement! We wish all the newest members of our alumni community the best of luck as they leave St Andrews and encourage you all to keep in touch with your alma mater!

The Arnold Palmer Invitational - a winning team!

The annual Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament in support of Saints Golf was held at The Castle Course at the end of Graduation Week. The splendid new trophy, kindly commissioned for the event by long-time supporters George and Wendy David, was snatched from their hands at the last as parent of a graduating student, Jay Diesing and his golfing partner, Director of Development Robert Fleming, came home with a fantastic winning better ball score of 64.

Calling all citizen scientists!

Marine scientists are appealing to citizen scientists to collect information about Britain's saltmarshes with a new, free mobile phone app. Read more

New Gatty building endorsed by Wolfson Foundation

The Wolfson Foundation has awarded The University of St Andrews up to £500,000 towards the cost of the aquarium in the Gatty Multi-School Aquarium and Experimental Facility. Read more

As part of the University's project to redevelop the Sports Centre, we are delighted to offer you an opportunity to show your support! From St Andrews to the Andes

Pachamama – a documentary made by two St Andrews students about the effect of climate change on an indigenous population in the Bolivian Andes – was premiered at a special screening at the University at the end of Graduation week. Read more

Saint Connect Nights

St Andrews has a truly global community of alumni and friends and this year we want to prove it! Hong Kong
The St Andrews Hong Kong Group will be holding an alumni Croquet and Pimm's Garden Party on Saturday 20 August 2016 from 2.00–6.00pm. If you think croquet sounds boring then prepare to be surprised. Players of all abilities are welcome, especially beginners! Tickets are now available to buy priced at HK$200 per person (plus booking fee).

Brian Bannatyne-Scott

Byre Theatre, Tuesday 19 July at 7.30pm
Brian Bannatyne-Scott (Honorary Professor of Singing at the University of St Andrews) has performed on the world's greatest operatic stages throughout his long and highly distinguished career. In this recital with Walter Blair, he performs Vaughan-Williams' Songs of Travel alongside songs by Schubert, Borodin and Haas.

Botanic Gardens St Andrews, Friday 22 July at 8.00pm
Long-time friends Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes perform a wonderful blend of folk songs, classic pop influences and self-written favourites.

Nature Week: Seed Bomb Making

Wednesday 3 August, 10.00–10.45am (3–6 years) and 11.00am–12.00pm (7–12 years)
How do plants grow? Bring some explosive colour to your garden at home, at school, or simply in an empty space. Build your own seed bomb and learn what it will take to grow your own flowers. Held at MUSA. Free, but booking essential.
