11th October 2014 saw a record turnout at the fourth annual gathering of Chancellor’s Circle members, held in St Andrews.
Over 130 St Andrews alumni and friends, who attended from all over the UK and whose graduation years spanned seven decades, were welcomed by Sir Menzies Campbell CH CBE QC MP, the Chancellor of the University of St Andrews and the President of the Chancellor's Circle. The Chancellor spoke about the importance of legacy giving, not only to the University itself, but also to those alumni and families who choose to remember St Andrews in this way. After a delightful afternoon tea, Daryl Green, one of two Rare Books Librarians in the University’s Special Collections team, delivered a very well-received lecture on the history of book production and the use of the Collections in teaching and research, following which the guests had the opportunity to handle and examine some of the University’s holdings.
