Completed projects

Throughout the history of St Andrews, the generosity of our alumni, parents and friends has been crucial to our success. With this in mind, we launched the University’s 600th Anniversary Campaign with two key aims: to augment our relatively small endowment and to raise funds for ambitious projects that will consolidate our status as a world-class centre for teaching, learning and research.

To date – amongst other things – we have invested gifts and pledges to build a dedicated Medical and Biological Sciences building, transform the former Martyrs Kirk into a postgraduate research library and reading room and provide scholarships for the advancement of teaching and research. St Salvator’s Quadrangle has been fully redeveloped and the Students’ Association has been completely modernised to provide a facility our students love. We could not have done this without you.

Over the coming months, we shall use this space to tell the story behind some of these completed projects through the voices of our students, donors, alumni and staff. The life-changing benefits of a Wardlaw Scholarship can be seen at the link below.

Thank you

Thanks to your support, we are third in the UK for alumni participation in terms of donations and the 2015-16 academic year alone saw us raise over £13 million. During the last 18 months we have raised £3.5m for scholarships, £2.2m of the £3m target towards the redevelopment of the Sports Centre, and £5m towards the new Music Centre. We are delighted that our Campaign total has now risen to over £90m. (all figures correct as at 31 May 2017).

There is always more to do, but that means there are always more wonderful stories of student successes for us to share. Your donations have transformed the lives of students at St Andrews, and will continue to make a real difference to our students of tomorrow. Thank you!
